A: Murals are essentially large images that cover equally large expanses of wall space indoors and out. Because they are much easier to make in this day and age, and they’ve become quite affordable, magnolia emulsion has some serious competition.

Murals now comprise digital prints and so any design is possible with limited origination. Murals no longer have to be gridded up and manually painted. That means they are within the reach of most budgets. And they’re practical to the extent they work with most spaces.

Murals cross the line by becoming functional. They can have teaching content in them or be used to direct people just like a sign might. Thinking of an application could just be the biggest challenge a mural faces. Paying for it no longer is.

A: Murals are made by printing these days. They’re big and so a big printer is used. Big printers need big materials to print on. No problem. We have the hardware and the material too.

All we do is feed the printer with the ink, design and material it needs and then keep an eye on it while it does its thing. It outputs printed rolls that are then applied on site a bit like wallpaper. That’s how a mural is made.

Murals are made durable by encapsulating the image. That’s known as laminating. With the design being under a layer of plastic protection, it’s going to resist knocks, bumps and fading. Tough only begins to describe it. Shopping centres love murals from Voodoo DesignWorks.
